Metrics Generation
The Metrics Generation feature in Cardus.AI allows you to analyze and quantify the emotional tone and how much a narrative carry a description of events and experiences or only abstract concepts and opinions. This powerful tool processes narratives to generate two key metrics: Sentiment and Abstraction Level.
Key Features
- Sentiment Analysis: Measures the emotional tone of narratives on a scale from -2 (very negative) to +2 (very positive)
- Abstraction Level Assessment: Evaluates how concrete or abstract each narrative is on a scale from 1 to 4
- Batch Processing: Apply metrics generation to multiple interviews simultaneously, a process that runs in the background
- Visual Distribution: View the distribution of metrics across your project or inside an interview
- Integration with Dashboard: Metrics feed directly into visualization tools for deeper analysis
Benefits
- Identify Emotional Patterns: Quickly spot areas of concern (negative sentiment) or success (positive sentiment) across the organization
- Balance Concrete and Abstract Insights: Ensure your analysis includes both specific situations that offers a more actionable insight (low abstraction) and broader patterns (high abstraction)
- Track Changes Over Time: Compare metric distributions across different project phases to measure progress
How to use it
Understanding Abstraction Levels:
- Level 1: Very concrete, specific situations with details about who, what, when and where
- Level 2: Somewhat concrete, mixing specific examples with some generalizations
- Level 3: Somewhat abstract, describing general patterns with few specific details
- Level 4: Very abstract, broad judgments or principles with no specific examples
Understanding Sentiment Scale:
- -2: Very negative emotional tone (frustration, anger, despair)
- -1: Somewhat negative emotional tone (concern, disappointment)
- 0: Neutral emotional tone
- +1: Somewhat positive emotional tone (satisfaction, appreciation)
- +2: Very positive emotional tone (enthusiasm, joy, gratitude)
A healthy project typically shows a bell curve distribution slightly left of center for both metrics, indicating a natural mix of concrete/abstract narratives and a realistic balance of positive/negative sentiments.
